Introduction

The nonprofit Utah Assistive Technology Foundation (UATF) and the Utah Microenterprise Loan Fund (UMLF) are partnering to make independence affordable by offering low interest (prime rate) financial loans with no application or origination fees to start or expand a small business. Loans are available from $500 to $50,000, depending on individual qualifications. Our goal is to increase employment opportunities and outcomes for Utahans with disabilities.

Application Steps

  1. Read the application instructions for a small business loan.

  2. Download and fill out the UATF application form completely in black ink. If you prefer, we can mail it to you, along with the UMLF application. Return with verification of disability to:

  3. Utah Assistive Technology Foundation
    6835 Old Main Hill
    Logan, UT 84322

If you prefer, you can fax the UATF completed form to: (435) 797-2355. Please ensure the form is filled out completely to assist in timely processing.
If you have any questions, please contact us at (800) 524-5152.

  4. After you have completed and returned the UATF application, we will mail you the UMLF application packet, if we haven't already mailed it to you. You may also obtain an application from the UMLF (address below), Utah Valley University Small Business Development Center (1410 W 1200 So, Orem), Weber State Small Business Center (3806 University Circle, Ogden) or Cache Business Resource Center (1410 North 1000 West, Room 1901). Once you have completed the entire application packet, you will need to present your business plan to UMLF. Contact them to schedule an appointment:
  5. Utah Microenterprise Loan Fund
    154 East Ford Avenue #A (3415 So)
    Salt Lake City, Utah 84115
    (801) 746-1180

The application process provides you with an opportunity to tell your story in person to the people who will decide whether to approve your loan. Loan decisions are made within two days based on your experience, dedication, skills, credit, and understanding of your business

  6. Close your loan and sign the papers!  You will be asked to provide proof of insurance on business assets and a list of assets you own and that need to be purchased.  Your loan repayment schedule and repayment options will be discussed at that time, along with any questions.

  7. Start or grow your business!  Your loan funds will be distributed directly to you and your suppliers according to your loan application.
